Project Manager, Engineering Projects

Tritech International is seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex electronics and embedded product development programmes from concept through to validated production release.
This is a hands-on leadership role within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment, coordinating hardware, firmware, software, mechanical, test and manufacturing functions to deliver robust, high-quality engineered products.
This is not an IT project management role — we are specifically looking for experience in engineered product development.
The Role
You will take full ownership of the development lifecycle:
- Requirements capture and definition
- Design, prototyping and verification
- Regulatory testing and certification
- Manufacturing transfer and production ramp-up
You will act as the central coordination point between Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations and Commercial teams, ensuring delivery to schedule, cost and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead end to end the project management of Electronics/Embedded/Software product development projects.
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, milestones, budgets and resources
- Track progress and proactively manage risks and change control
- Maintain configuration and scope discipline throughout the lifecycle
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Coordinate hardware, firmware/software, mechanical, test and manufacturing engineering teams
- Facilitate structured design reviews and milestone gates
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Manufacturing & Supply Chain Interface
- Manage transition from development to production
- Oversee BOM release, documentation and production readiness
- Liaise with prototype manufacturers, production partners and test houses
Commercial & Risk Management
- Manage development budgets and cost targets
- Identify and mitigate technical, regulatory and supply chain risks
- Support supplier selection and make/buy decisions
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure products meet reliability, regulatory and performance standards
- Support lifecycle management, change control and obsolescence planning
- Promote adherence to structured development processes
About You
Essential
- Proven experience managing electronics or embedded product development projects
- Strong understanding of engineered product design, validation and production processes
- Experience delivering through prototype, verification and production phases
- Strong planning, stakeholder management and risk management capability
Desirable
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience with regulated electronic products (EMC, safety, environmental compliance)
- Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes
- PRINCE2, PMP, APMP or equivalent qualification

Location & Eligibility (Please Read Before Applying)
- This is an on-site role based in Ulverston (LA12 7LB).
- Candidates must already reside within reasonable commuting distance or have plans in place to relocate to the area
