Our story

A little bit about who we are, what we do and why we do it.

Who we are.

Tritech International Limited [Tritech] is a high-technology business dedicated to providing the most reliable imaging and ancillary equipment for use in underwater applications. We have three UK locations comprised of a sales and support office in Aberdeen, design office in Edinburgh and large manufacturing facility in Ulverston in England’s Lake District. As well as a sales office in the USA, we have a global network of resellers who support and work with customers in their local area.

What we do.

For over 30 years, Tritech have provided the subsea industry with robust, reliable solutions for the harshest environments and most difficult applications. Our product portfolio consists of a suite of Mechanically Scanning and Multibeam Imaging sonar, profiling solutions and oceanographic bathymetric and depth sensing products. Tritech also sells navigation and tracking solutions for small subsea vehicles. All of our products are designed to the highest standards to achieve the quality of product Tritech provides. Our products go through rigorous production testing, both in-house and on open water, and regularly remain in use for decades, surviving and thriving in the most challenging environments on the planet. We offer customer support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Why we do it.

Our objective is to support the subsea working environment by making it less hazardous. We aim to help preclude any loss of life or injury during underwater operations and to prevent harm to the environment both subsea and otherwise. With every product we design, testing exercise we undertake or customer we serve, safety and the mitigation of risk is of the utmost importance. Whether we are helping divers shorten search and recovery missions or enabling ROV operators to perform complex tasks previously completed by humans, our aim is always to provide technology that gives the user peace of mind.

The following milestones have attributed to Tritech’s growth and success over the past 30 years:

2022

Tritech joins General Oceans AS: an umbrella company specialising in underwater technology and headquartered in London. Tritech also launches the MicronGemini: a small, low cost multibeam imaging sonar ideal for navigation and target recognition.

2021

Tritech turns 30 and celebrates with a number of new additions to the market including the Gemini 720ik 360°: a low cost, 360° multibeam sonar.

2020

During the depths of the pandemic, Tritech launches the Diver Mounted Display (DMD). The DMD is available both tethered and untethered and is described by users as 'groundbreaking'.

2019

Tritech launches the Gemini 1200ik dual-frequency multibeam imaging sonar at DSEI 2019. The product is well received by the market.

2018

Tritech launches the Gemini 720im: the smallest multibeam sonar in the world.

2016

Tritech launches the next generation imaging sonar, Gemini 720is at Oceanology

2015

Tritech signs a deal with Canadian company Kraken Sonar to produce an alternative product to the DVL, AquaTrak CVL

2014

In October, Tritech’s Design, Manufacturing and Service facility in Ulverston, Cumbria, moved to new premises within the South Lakes town to improve operational efficiency and reduce the environmental impact on the local area.

David Bradley, Supply Chain Director is promoted to the role of Managing Director.

2012

Tritech celebrates its 21st year in business with a new image, developing its brand for the next 21+ years.

In June 2012, Tritech expands its global presence with the first international office opening in Katy, Texas.

On 22 August 2012, parent company Halma p.l.c. sold Tritech to US company Moog Inc. becoming part of Moog Components Group Limited.

2011

Tritech achieved success at the 2011 Subsea UK Awards, winning the Innovation and Technology Award for our Gemini multibeam sonar; the ground-breaking real-time imaging sonar.

2010

In March 2010 Tritech was shortlisted for the industry acclaimed Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards (SOAAs) in the category of The Innovator, for the Gemini 720i multibeam real-time imaging sonar.

2009

In October of this year, the multibeam expertise of SRD is incorporated into Tritech's Ulverston site, with the survey side of the business transferred to NCS Survey, Aberdeen.

2007

Sonar Research and Development (SRD), founded in 1981, with the aim to exploit unique methods of manufacturing efficient sonar transducers and sophisticated multibeam products and as providers of marine survey services, join Tritech after their acquisition by Halma p.l.c.

2006

Tritech became part of Halma p.l.c., a global group, operating within three specialised business sectors; Health and Analysis, Infrastructure Sensors and Industrial Safety.

Tritech Aberdeen, ST Ulverston (and Ulvertech Engineering Ltd) merge during Tritech’s acquisition by Halma p.l.c, in November 2006.

2001

Tritech was awarded another prestigious Queen's Award, this time for Innovation.

2000

Tritech achieved the Royal Society of Edinburgh’s Millennium Award.

1994

Richard Marsh and Dick Wright moved from the converted house in Kingswells, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, to Tritech's current location at Westhill Business Park.

Tritech received their first prestigious Queen's Award for Export Achievement.

1991

Tritech was founded by Richard Marsh and Dick Wright, beginning operations as a two-man outfit from a converted house in Kingswells, Aberdeenshire.

Tritech began a joint venture with Swift 943 Ltd, Ulverston, founded by Marcus Cardew and formed in 1985 trading as System Technologies (ST).
